I have been so excited to share this real wedding with you and when you see it, you will understand why! The photography by Mark Ammon compliments the wedding perfectly. There are so many things I love about this wedding – the dress, the hair accessory, THE SHOES, the kilt, the bridesmaids dresses, the vinyl placemats, the shoes (oh, I already mentioned that!) Ok, enough of me going on and spoiling what is in store..
The ceremony took at St John the Baptist Church in Southend and the wedding party travelled in style on a vintage bus to Shoebury East Beach for Pimms and photographs. Following this seaside interlude, the reception was held at The Ashingdon and East Hawkwell Memorial hall near Rochford. Felicity and Iain personalised the hall with bunting, a period correct bar and vinyl records as placemats! Dinner was fish and chips served from a van adding a real seaside touch and of course no trip to the seaside would be complete without the old ice cream van parked outside serving ice cream cones with flakes for dessert – what a fantastic touch! The wedding party then danced the night away to the sounds of the 1950’s Be-bop band…
Enjoy my lovelies…
Iain and I met in Wimbledon during the tennis fortnight, neither of us had actually made it to the tennis however, we met at the ATM in the village. The proposal happened whilst on a weekend break in Lille, France. We were doing some window shopping and stumbled upon a jewellers. I saw the perfect ring and we bought it right there and then. After a quick nose powdering, Iain proposed on the steps of Lille town hall.
We built our 1950s styled seaside theme on the attire, music, transport, bunting etc to echo the 50s era…seaside paraphernalia complimented the style throughout, rock, fans, flip flops, postcards, bucket and spades etc. We did a lot of the decorations and ideas ourselves, but were helped by Venus Wedding Planners, a Essex based organisations who had good links in the community.
Jiveswing was definitely our most indispensable supplier – took full control of the entertainment. Our favourite wedding details were the 12″ record place mats, which acted as fans in the searing 32 degree heat, and the cocktail barman.
See, I told you it was brilliant…and how amazing were those shoes! This is definitely my kinda wedding.. Please do comment at let us hear what you thought of Felicity and Iain’s coastal 50’s wedding!
Until next time peeps x
