Yes, it is that time of the week already, time to be inspired you beautiful brides and handsome grooms to be! This week, we are delighted to share with you the wedding of Paul and Anna. Taking place at Leez Priory, Paul and Anna’s wedding was on one of the hottest days of the year – very lucky indeed! I adore the bridesmaids dresses that have a peacock theme (something that is becoming increasingly popular *2014 trend alert*). Now, this weeks Wedding Wednesday has a slight twist. This being, that the talented photographers, Bloomwood Photography, tell us all about the day from their perspective and give us all some invaluable advice. Now, I won’t keep you…
We invite you to Paul and Anna’s summer wedding that finished with a spectacular bang!
We were referred to Paul & Anna through a previous couple who we had photographed, but this was slightly unusual as they live in Dubai but were getting married close to friends and family in Essex at Leez Priory. We’re used to meet people face to face and getting to know them to understand their tastes and expectations, and initially speaking over email only was difficult. However after lots of emails and a few telephone conversations over a number of months we finally meet just 2 months before the big day when they flew over for final preparations and we had an engagement shoot at the venue!
As soon as we spoke, it was clear that Paul & Anna wanted a very ‘English’ wedding with tradition and all their friends and family around them. Having lived in Dubai for several years, they were used to modern and luxurious surroundings, but missed the people closest to them and wanted their wedding day to be a celebration amongst old and new friends, some of whom were travelling from Dubai with them. We knew we wanted to be a part of their wedding day as soon as they started telling us how special it would be to be reunited with family and old friends, and many new friends meeting their families for the first time.
The photographs we capture are all about the people, and this sounded like a day to be a part of.
There were many beautiful moments throughout the day, but the best part was undoubtedly the early evening after the wedding breakfast when the couple were able to relax and spend time with their guests. There were many smiles and a few tears of joy as they celebrated and clearly enjoyed themselves.
It was a beautiful day and one of the sunniest of the summer, which although can create challenges as a photographer, meant that everyone could enjoy the casual atmosphere outside. The relaxed atmosphere continued throughout the day as the ceremony was held in the sun, at the foot of Leez Priory tower. Following the wedding breakfast and speeches everyone returned outside where a band played through the evening as the sun turned into dusk, and eventually darkness. As a result, the ambience was like a garden party, but as the evening wore on and the drinks flowed, the music and dancing turned it into a more lively affair.
We offer a boutique and personal approach to photography, covering weddings across Essex and surrounding areas. Brides and grooms spend many months planning every little detail of their wedding day and choosing everything to their own personal tastes. We understand this and spend time with couples, listening to what they want from their day and tailoring our coverage of the day, rather than telling what photographs they should have taken. We aim to capture lasting memories of the wedding, telling the story from start to finish, but with good planning and without interruption on the day itself.
Whilst throughout Paul and Anna’s wedding day we organised formal group shots and key moments, we spent much of the day in the background, capturing the natural un-posed moments that you cannot make happen. Hopefully this kept their record in photographs true to the day and let them enjoy every moment.
Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions that someone can make about their wedding. It is important that a photographer focuses on the people and moments that are important to the couple. The best advice that we could offer is to tell the couple to think about what type of photographs they want from the day and how much time they are happy to spend away from guests, because this can make a big difference to how the photographs from the day are planned.
Once you have considered this, spend time talking to a photographer and make sure you feel comfortable with them, as they spend considerable time around you on one of the most important days of your life. We are happy to talk to and meet with couples building up to the wedding to make sure that they are comfortable and know what to expect on the day. We find that an engagement shoot often helps a couple feel more confident in front of a lens, and means that when time is precious on a wedding day that they can enjoy it.
