{Wedding Wednesday} A Malawian Romance, Onika & Adrian

YAY! It’s Wedding Wednesday.  I always love these features, as like you, I get to be inspired by the vast amount of ideas that different couples have. Now, this wedding is particularly special as it features a blushing bride, Onika, from Malawi and her groom, Adrian, from Hereford.  Of course, it was only natural that the vibrant colours and traditions of a Malawian wedding would be incorporated into their day. What makes this day even more special, is that Onika was seven months pregnant…

So, I will hand you over to the fabulous, Stroud-based photographer of this special day, Christy Blanch

Enjoy x

This was the first wedding I shot this year and what a wedding it was. Onika and Adrian married on a very sunny and warm April day at St Francis Xavier’s Church and the reception was at The Castle Hotel in Hereford. Adrian grew up in Hereford and his parents still live on the outskirts. Onika was 7 months pregnant on her wedding day and she was glowing. Her gown was absolutely beautiful and she wore Adrian’s grandmothers watch on the day for something borrowed.

Onika’s family are from Malawi and this influence shown through on the wedding day from colourful fabric on the tables to lots of traditional music and dancing. The family celebrated the day with lots of singing and clapping. As part of a Malawian tradition the couple were also showered in money. It was a joy to photograph Onika and Adrian’s colourful wedding.
