Feature Friday – how to look HOT on your honeymoon!

Happy Friday, everyone! Hurrah – it’s the weekend! I hope you have some exciting wedding planning to do this weekend. If you do, don’t forget to pop over & join our Facebook group to ask advice from our wonderful suppliers & chat to other brides & grooms to be!

In the meantime, I wanted to share a fabulous business I recently discovered on Twitter (my home from home!) and thought what a marvellous piece this would make for vintage lovin’ brides-to-be who are looking for that all-important wedding night or honeymoon attire! Wedding lingerie has never been better, but putting your big, fluffy, old dressing gown over the top of your luxury silk teddy might not quite achieve the look you were after! But never fear! Betty Blue’s Loungerie provides the perfect products to compliment that gorgeous nightwear in her fantastically feminine lounge wear. Here are some words about this bombshell business:

Betty Blue’s was born out of the seeds of an idea that was sewn many years ago. Owner and Creative Director of the brand, Betty, has had a love of sleepwear, loungewear, lingerie and corsetry as well as all clothes that are utterly beautiful since a little girl.

I remember watching black and white musicals with beautiful screen starlets in, with my Grandma when I was a little girl. Stars such as Ginger Rogers, Rita Hayworth and Jane Russell captivated me with their stunning gowns and I used to watch in wonder as the stars reclined elegantly in night gowns of shimmering satins, velvets and chiffons.

Betty was so taken with these evocative memories that she decided to follow her heart and train technically in Lingerie, Corsetry and Swimwear design. She gained entry to the prestigious and only course in the world for such specialist skills, graduating in the summer of 2010 with BA (Hons) in Contour Fashion. Her final collection, naturally, based on old Hollywood Hitchcock films and his blonde femme fatales.

On graduation, Betty embarked on building her skills by interning at several beautiful luxury lingerie companies, notably Lascivious and Buttress and Snatch (well worth a look at on their websites!!!). She also did a brief spell at a beautiful luxury lingerie boutique, The Lingerie Collective, just off Carnaby Street; learning a valuable insight from customers as to what they want in their lingerie and loungewear choices.

It was this combined with Betty’s own experiences as a student that Betty Blue’s was finally born.
When I was a student I didn’t have much time to look after my appearance as my degree schedule was so hectic. I got really fed up with having to wear baggy unflattering outfits that made me look, in my opinion, like a hobo! Why are there no glamorous, comfortable and snugly alternatives to sweat pants and hoodies?!?! Well now there is at Betty Blue’s loungerie!! Betty’s aim is to provide gorgeous girlies of all ages and sizes with snugly, and most importantly glamorous, garments to recline and relax in –just as those stars of Hollywood did in the 1930’s to 1950’s old fashioned films did!
